Meet Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha who is (Father Doctor of Thai Massage and Thai Medicine)
Brief Overview of Thai Massage
Thai Massage, also called "Lazy Man's Yoga," is an ancient healing art in Thailand known as Nuad Bo’ Rarn. Nuad means "applying touch to heal," while Bo' Rarn involves sharing traditional medicine, herbal remedies, nutrition, spiritual practices like mantra, meditation, prayer, and hands-on techniques to promote healing.
Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha (Dr. Shivago) is honored as the “Father Doctor of Thai Massage and Thai Medicine." He was a contemporary of the Buddha and served over 2,500 years ago as a physician at Chiang Mai's Old Medicine Hospital. His goal was to promote wellness by manipulating bodily systems and stimulating energy channels and sen lines.
Sen is the Thai word for line, which is invisible and felt through intuition and touch. In Thai theory, 72,000 lines are bundled into 10 primary lines called Sip Sen, representing energetic pathways throughout the body from head to toe. Their complex locations, flowing in different directions and angles, are closely connected to the myofascial system surrounding body parts.
Sen lines follow specific pathways unique to each side of the body, with left being feminine and right masculine and solar. They move energy through nonspecific routes, each “sen” having its own path. Visualize it like a river flowing downstream—blockages disrupt flow, causing knots, adhesions, and trigger points that slow circulation. Thai massage clears these blockages, maintaining body balance.
Thai Massage combines breathwork to find balance, meditation to strengthen the mind-body connection, various Thai massage techniques, and Chinese acupressure to unblock areas in the body. It also uses muscle compressions to relieve tension and promote relaxation, as well as fascia-assisted yoga stretches from India and mobilization techniques for muscles and joints, forming a holistic approach.
It is important to understand that Thai massage is not rooted in any religion. It does not force its beliefs or practices on anyone participating, whether the receiver, the giver, or those accessing this information. Instead, it may assist individuals in healing from physical, emotional, or spiritual ailments.

A Look At Thai Massage TODAY!
- Since the 1990s, Thai Massage has been taught and practiced outside of Thailand and in the West as an alternative and complementary treatment, offered as another massage modality—just like other types of massage.
- As a Thai Massage therapist, I enjoy learning and integrating various modalities into my private massage practice; however, I avoid using practices, modalities, and techniques that I believe are not beneficial for myself and my clients.
- A Thai massage can last 1 to 3 hours. However, a 1-1/2 or 2-hour full-body treatment is generally the most effective.
- Both the receiver and massage therapist wear stretchy, comfortable-fitting, move-free clothing.
- Very few oils or creams are used, and the massage therapist uses his or her fingers, hands, elbows, knees, feet, and massage tools during the session. Add-Ons: Relief is also achieved through Herbal Compress and Tok Sen massages, with varying pressure on the body, which help induce a deeper state of relaxation that calms the mind and melts tension from everyday life.
- Viewing a Thai massage may seem uncomfortable, but it isn't as bad as it looks. Most report enjoying it!

Deep Tissue Massage:
Helps With Daily Lingering Pain
- Deep Tissue Massage targets deep fascial tissues and muscles. Jill aims to break up adhesions or "knots," which may cause discomfort during the session.
- Discomfort should not be painful. Some request more pressure, hoping it will eliminate chronic pain, but these issues didn't develop overnight and won't disappear in one or two sessions. Give yourself time for effective treatments and schedule maintenance to prevent further discomfort.

Myofascial Release Massage:
If this resonates with you, contact Jill today!
- Myofascial Release Massage is especially helpful for those dealing with chronic tightness and stiffness, which can result from overuse, underuse, unresolved pain issues, or injuries. After consulting your doctor and ensuring there are no medical concerns, you are encouraged to engage in self-care, and massage therapy may be another beneficial option to consider addressing your issues.
- Jill’s goal as your therapist is to reduce tension in the fascia and relax tight muscles using various techniques, including assistive stretching.

Thai Foot Reflexology Massage:
Lie Back & Relax Your Entire Body Benefits...
- Thai Foot Reflexology originates from some of the oldest traditional medicine practices in the world. It encourages energy flow throughout the body and is not meant to diagnose medical conditions or replace a doctor's advice. This natural therapy has a profound impact on the organs, glands, and body systems by restoring energy flow, balance, and harmony.
- The feet serve as a complete map of the body, with each area corresponding to different parts. Stimulating reflex points on the feet can relieve discomfort, stress, and fatigue, while also improving circulation, encouraging relaxation, and reducing tension. It also helps remove waste from the body, stimulates organs, oxygenates tissues, and boosts mental clarity and energy balance.
- Jill uses her thumbs, knuckles, palms, fists, and a wooden massage stick to stimulate reflex points, zones, and SEN lines, offering a comprehensive and holistic treatment that boosts the body's natural healing abilities.

Trigger Point Massage Therapy:
Leave Feeling Relaxed & Wanting More
- Trigger Point Massage Therapy is a massage technique used by Dr. Janet Travell, the personal physician of President John F. Kennedy Jr., to treat his back. This type of massage focuses on “trigger points” in the muscles, targeting problem areas while promoting pain relief.
- Many people experience pain in areas of their bodies that are not the actual source, a phenomenon known as "referred pain." This pain is often caused by tight bands of muscle fibers that develop over time due to stress, repetitive movements, chronic pain, and improper muscle use. Trigger points are highly sensitive to touch and may feel like knots or ropes because of lack of blood flow.
- As a Massage & Bodywork Therapist, Jill White-Huffman uses Trigger Point Massage Therapy to ease pain that limits flexibility and range of motion by gently stretching muscles and applying focused pressure to trigger points, helping knots to release.

Tok Sen Massage:
“Thai Hammer Massage” Heals Deep Within
- Tok Sen comes from Northern Thailand and has been passed down for 2,500 years through traditional methods. The word “Tok” means to tap, and “Sen” refers to the energy lines or pathways in the body.
- This type of massage uses a wooden mallet and wedge made from tamarind wood. The special hammer strikes promote healing by tapping along the body's energetic points and channels, reaching deep to release energy blockages that hinder proper blood flow. Many Sen lines exist, but ten are considered the most important.
- This rhythmic tapping has been known to penetrate and resonate deep into the body tissue, corresponding to these energy lines, releasing muscle knots and improving flexibility during the treatment. Some people might report feeling good after receiving Tok Sen, possibly due to the release of "feel-good” hormones like endorphins and serotonin during the session. These effects often last for days.
- Tok Sen promotes balance by healing from within and restoring the natural flow of energy, and it can work wonders after a long, busy, and stressful day.

Thai Herbal Compress Massage
Mind & Body Treatment - Discover Yourself
- Luk Pra, aka Hot Herbal Compress, began in India and came to Thailand in 200 BC.
- Thai Herbal Compress Massage features a luxurious mix of Thai herbs carefully wrapped and tied into firm bundles. These bundles are steamed hot, gradually releasing their natural essence to penetrate the skin. This helps reduce inflammation and promotes detoxification while massaging along the body’s energy lines, or sen lines.
- The heat from the herbal compress helps improve sluggish circulation, eases tightness and soreness, softens knots, and alleviates physical tension, chronic aches, pains, and emotional instability that can lead to stress and burnout, all of which may "Melt Away as Pores Open and take Effect.”
