PAIN MANAGEMENT NEWS
Many think that effective massage pain relief involves tolerating short-term discomfort like digging and crushing. In reality, a good massage enhances blood circulation, supplies nutrients, and eliminates toxins. The pressure applied depends on the client and focuses on muscle knots to alleviate chronic or stress-related pain.
What occurs when tissue knots and muscles become tight, stiff, and inflexible?
- They frequently develop trigger points that restrict blood flow.
- About 75% of trigger points are associated with pain issues.
- These trigger points often arise from nerve impingement, muscle overuse or underuse, poor posture, hormonal imbalances, stress, nutritional deficiencies, dehydration, and other factors.
- Muscle tightening reduces your range of motion.
- Muscles constitute roughly 40-50% of our body weight.

When fascia causes discomfort, it becomes tender, stiff, and painful, often intensifying at night or in the morning. Fascia is fibrous tissue connecting muscles to bones, extending from head to feet. It has three layers: Superficial (beneath the skin, storing fat and water), Deep (around muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels), and Deepest (encasing muscles, viscera, and supportive structures inside the body). Restrictions can lead to tightening, tearing, inflammation, and pain—signals for the body to heal.
